May 4th

Another day off together, which is not too shabby
And today we are heading to Westminster Abbey
Is it hot today? Do I wear sandal, shoe or wellie?
Kate and Wills were here, I saw them on the telly
Trained it up to London on the royal wedding trail
All their trees and flowers were now looking stale
Two queues snaked out patrolled by Clergy guards
One for cash and the other for credit cards
Never been that religious and questioned paying
You can get in for free if you tell them you’re praying
Even before we went to the wedding venue
We headed to a cafe to peruse the lunch menu
Val wasn’t too pleased; she thought it looked a little naff
But when we got inside it was the world’s greatest cafe
A selection of everything from steak to curry
A man shouting out orders in Italian cockney
Couldn’t sit down until the order was placed
People sharing seats no room went to waste
Ron used to frequent this place when fixing lifts
No wonder he opted for the morning shifts
Full breakfast for three pounds he mentioned
And said he’d always leave with indigestion
A glorious weather day and the sun we thank
For making it warm as we walk along the south bank
My favourite part of London is how south bank is thought of
Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner sort of
