August 16th

Along the northern line we fly
Venturing to Barnet upon high
To show what a fan I am
Travelling away to watch Gillingham
It’s in your blood when growing up
Your team in the league and F.A Cup
It’s supposed to be your local side
That fills you with joy and pride
But you know when you follow the Gills
You enjoy the wins draws and thrills
Knowing that not too far behind
There's result waiting to remind
Of the inconsistency of players
Met by grunts and groans of the neigh sayers
I'm always there, but I only go now and then
Made to feel at home by the 'shouting men'
It's a bit of me which you'll never mend
I'll always be part of the Rainham End
