April 7th

I looked up into the sky today
And saw something staring back this way
Something that makes our day much brighter
Our smiles widen and our problems lighter
It seems to make people react differently
Happier and playful and a little more free
It makes suited businessmen discard their cares
And lay in the park at lunchtime, shoes off, feet bare
Places come alive as families head out
Kids laughing on swings, slides and roundabouts
Suddenly small things don’t seem to matter
The picnics come out and the ducks get fatter
It suppose to happen every year, but it does come and go
That’s why people are milking it so
Summer shorts out if you are prepared
Sunglasses on to reflect its glare
Bags of Frisbees and balls hung over pram handles
Shoes and socks replaced by open toed sandals
Winter keeps folks in and subdued
A change in weather changes moods
Today is sunny; let’s hope it starts a pattern
And from now on, every day the sun has got its hat on
Enjoy your summer where ever you are
Keep your windows down when driving your car
Sunbathe in the park or become a beach bummer
Make the most of your long hot summer
